Terms of Sale
Products: Max for Live devices delivered as a digital download (zip). Prices are shown on the Devices page and charged in USD through PayPal or Stripe (card, Google Pay, Apple Pay).
Delivery: Right after payment, a download link is shown on the page and also sent to the email address you used for payment (your PayPal account, or the one you entered on the Stripe payment page). The link is valid for 7 days and up to 3 downloads. If it expires, write to shop@cotofu.com with your order ID and we will send a new one.
Updates: Updates within the same major version (for example 1.0 to 1.x) are free. When one is released, we send a new download link to the email address you used for payment. A new major version (for example 2.0) may be sold separately.
Requirements: Each device lists its requirements (e.g. Ableton Live / Max version). Please check them before buying.
Taxes: Prices do not include any taxes that may apply in your country.
License (EULA)
This license is an agreement between you and Itsuki Doi (Cotofu) for the devices you buy.
Use: If you buy a device as an individual, you may install and use it on any computers you use yourself, and use it in your own music, performances and other projects, including commercial ones. Sounds you make with it are yours.
Distribution: You may not share, resell or redistribute the device files, alone or as part of another product, without permission.
Third-party components: Some devices include software by others under their own licenses (for example cv.jit, LGPL-3.0). Those components stay under their licenses, which are included in the download and listed on licenses.
Liability: The devices are provided as they are. Use them at your own risk; we are not liable for damages resulting from their use, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
Refunds
Because the devices are digital downloads, purchases are generally non-refundable once the file has been downloaded. We will refund in full if the device does not work on a system that meets the listed requirements and we cannot fix the problem, if you were charged twice, or if the download never reached you. Write to shop@cotofu.com within 14 days of purchase with your order ID. Refunds are made through PayPal to the original payment method.
Privacy
What we collect when you buy: your order ID (from PayPal or Stripe), the name and email address the payment service shares with us, the product, the amount, and how many times the download link was used. We never see or store your card or bank details; payment is handled by PayPal or Stripe.
Why: to deliver the download, to re-send it if you lose it, to answer support requests and refunds, and to keep records required for accounting.
Where: order records are stored on Cloudflare (D1), and purchase emails are sent through Resend (United States). Payment data is processed by PayPal or Stripe under their own privacy policies.
How long: order records are kept for as long as needed for support and for the period required by Japanese tax law (7 years), then deleted.
Your rights: you can ask to see, correct or delete your data (except records we must keep by law) at shop@cotofu.com.
This website: cotofu.com does not use analytics or advertising cookies. The PayPal button loads PayPal’s own scripts only on the Devices page; card, Google Pay and Apple Pay payments take place on Stripe’s own payment page. Embedded players (YouTube via youtube-nocookie.com, Bandcamp) load only when you open a work or release, and those services may set their own cookies.
